The Meals on Wheels Organisation is part of Age Isle of Man.

We provide a range of good quality, nourishing meals at a reasonable price directly to your home.

Age Isle of Man works in partnership with The Department of Health & Social Care to supply this vital service.

The meals are cooked and chilled in the kitchen at Nobles Hospital and consist of a main course and a sweet.

Those having a meal can also enjoy a sandwich or jacket potato as a tea time option when receiving a mail meal for that particular day.

People requiring meals must be assessed as to their eligibility for the service. 


  • People who are housebound and are without the support of family or friends.
  • People who cannot shop for themselves.
  • People who are unable to cook for themselves.
  • People whose loss of living skills means that a level of support is required on a daily basis for meal provision.
  • People who through illness need short term support with meals provision.
  • Carers living with a person who may need support.
  • People who have become frail through age or illness and need support with their meals.
  • People with special dietary requirements
  • People of all ages who meet the Meals on Wheels criteria.

A member of the Home Care Team will visit you can carry out an assessment to find out what your needs are and to see if these can be met by providing you with Meals on Wheels.  You can invite anyone else to the assessment such as a friend, relative or neighbour. Any referral must have the permission of the person you are referring.

There is a charge for the meals and this will be £3.30 for a dinner and a sweet and £1.70 for a sandwich/jacket potato.  You pay your driver on the first day of the week that you receive a meal.  Payment can be made by cash or cheque which should be made payable to:  Age Isle of Man. 


We can cater for a range of dietary needs eg, Vegetarian, Diabetic, Gluten Free etc. 


Your meals will be delivered by our driver to your home each morning between 8:30am and 1:30pm.  It is essential that you are there to receive it so that your meals can be put directly into your refrigerator.  We do not leave meals on your doorstep, or in the porch, or with neighbours.  When we deliver meals to our clients we need to know that they are safe and well.

We take great care to ensure that your meal is delivered to you at a safe temperature, so it is important that your meal is placed into your refrigerator on delivery, where it should remain until you are ready to reheat it.  The meals are delivered to you in sealed containers and are labelled with the contents and a use by date.

1. It is important you take notice of the use by date written on the container label.
2. The meals should not be re-heated a second time.
3. The meals are not suitable for home freezing.


At the beginning of each week, the driver will give you the menus for the days which you receive a meal.  These will be dated several weeks in advance.  Please indicate your choice of your main course and sweet by ticking the appropriate box.  Your special dietary needs are recorded on the computer and at the top of your menu.

*Please remember that if you do not return your completed menu you may not get the meal of your choice. 


If you need to cancel a meal for any reason, please ring the MANAGER, Steve Dawson on 687308 as soon as possible.  If you are admitted to hospital without an opportunity to cancel, please inform the ward staff so they can let us know.  Please let us know when you return home and we can re-instate your meals as soon as possible.
